One exciting endeavor for our team has been helping plastic surgeons, dentists, dermatologists, and other medical professionals increase their presence on social media platforms. We have long preached the benefits of joining the Facebook community, so it’s nice to hear a recent study reconfirms our clients are headed in the right direction. A report in the journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, says that half of plastic surgeons now use social media. So the question is: Which half are you in?
If you are in the half that is not active on social media, take some time to ask yourself why. Are your patients using Facebook? Could another marketing channel help you increase the reach of your events, specials, and messaging? Would your audience appreciate a more informal channel to ask questions, connect with your practice, and hear real patient recommendations? We believe the benefits far outweigh any concerns when it comes to engaging with your clients through social media. Start with one platform, set some goals, dedicate the time, and see if it works for you. You won’t know until you try!
If you are part of the half that is already active, what’s next? We’ve recently seen some amazing success with promoted posts. If you choose to try Facebook advertising, make sure each post includes a call to action, a clean graphic (with less than 20% text), and a link to whatever content you are promoting. The amount of people you can reach for a small budget will help you find a new audience and attract new leads.
We’d love to hear which platforms and tactics are working best for your practice. Share your experience on our Facebook page.
